Bochner Eye Institute is a comprehensive eye care facility and laser centre that has been serving patients for more than 80 years. For nine consecutive years Bochner Eye Institute has been a recipient of the Consumers' Choice Award and the Top Choice Award, both given by leading independent research firms. In addition, Bochner Eye Institute has been selected as the official vision correction centre for the Toronto Blue Jays, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors professional sports teams. Patients from around the world, including celebrities, professional athletes and other surgeons, have traveled to Toronto to undergo vision correction under the care of the distinguished Bochner Eye Institute eye surgeons.
Bochner Eye Institute is led by internationally-recognized ophthalmologists who combine their unsurpassed surgical expertise with state-of-the-art technology to provide their patients with superior vision correction results. Drs. Raymond Stein, Harold Stein, Albert Cheskes and Jordan Cheskes received their medical training at the world-renowned Mayo School of Medicine. They have more than 100 years of combined experience and have successfully performed thousands of vision correction procedures. The surgeons of Bochner Eye Institute have published more textbooks than any other private institute in North America and are frequently asked to contribute to leading ophthalmology publications.
Laser Eye Surgery at Bochner Eye Institute
Bochner Eye Institute is recognized as a laser eye surgery leader in North America. The eye surgeons of Bochner Eye Institute are dedicated to adopting the latest technology and were among the first ophthalmologists in Canada to offer laser eye surgery. They were also among the first to perform Custom Wavefront LASIK in combination with IntraLase, or "All Laser LASIK." This method promotes higher safety and precision during the creation of the corneal flap. Bochner Eye Institute is equipped with two different laser eye surgery systems: the VISX S4 CustomVue and the Allegretto Wave. Both systems can be used to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. For patients who do not qualify for LASIK, the eye surgeons of Bochner Eye Institute offer a range of alternative treatment options, including PRK, implantable contact lenses and refractive lens exchange (RLE). Most patients who undergo laser eye surgery at Bochner Eye Institute are able to achieve near-perfect vision with greater freedom from glasses and contact lenses.
Bochner Eye Institute is the official vision correction centre for the Toronto Blue Jays, Maple Leafs and Raptors.
Cataract Surgery at Bochner Eye Institute
The experienced surgeons of Bochner Eye Institute have successfully treated thousands of patients whose vision has been impaired by cataracts, an age-related condition that leads to the clouding of the eye's natural lens. When performing cataract surgery, the eye surgeons use the latest "no-stitch" method, which promotes higher levels of patient safety and comfort. To restore the patient's vision following cataract surgery, the surgeons offer an array of sophisticated intraocular lens implants (IOLs) designed to mimic the function of the eye's natural lens, thereby providing patients with clear vision at most distances, often without the need for traditional eyewear.
Keratoconus Treatments at Bochner Eye Institute
Bochner Eye Institute was the first eye care practice in Canada to offer an effective treatment method for keratoconus, a disorder that causes the normally round cornea to become thin and cone shaped, thereby decreasing visual acuity. The surgeons of Bochner Eye Institute use the corneal collagen cross linking method with riboflavin to strengthen the eye's stroma and prevent the cornea from bulging out and taking on an irregular shape. The procedure involves special eye drops in combination with UV-A light. Although not a cure, this leading-edge procedure performed by the skilled surgeons of Bochner Eye Institute may prevent the progression of the disease and reduce nearsightedness or astigmatism caused by keratoconus.
The Bochner Eye Institue is located in the beautiful city of Toronto.

What Do Patients Say About the Eye Surgeons of Bochner Eye Institute?
"Demonstrating a self defense technique without being able to clearly see the attacker puts you at a great disadvantage. Thankfully, LASIK has given me the ability to train and teach with perfectly clear eyesight. There is no doubt that my performance has greatly improved, my reflexes are faster, as I am better able to judge distance, and my depth perception is more accurate." Collin Simon, Black Belt Martial Arts Instructor
"I have been boxing for almost 20 years and have represented Canada in over 30 countries, including the 1992 Olympics. When I became nearsighted and couldn't see the big 'E' on the chart, I decided to have the laser procedure at Bochner Eye Institute. My procedure was absolutely painless and without question was an absolute KNOCK-OUT. Thank you for enhancing my vision...and my career." Billy "The Kid" Irwin, Professional Boxer
"Driving a racing car places a tremendous strain on the eyes. In a sport where the difference between victory and defeat is often measured in thousandths of a second, perfection in everything must be tirelessly pursued. The level of professionalism displayed by the staff at Bochner Eye Institute as well as their attention to detail left me astounded with the results of my surgery. I encountered no side effects, and my nighttime vision has since improved from wearing glasses or contact lenses. These results leave me with no hesitation in recommending the LASIK procedure to anyone except of course my competition!" Robert Calisi, Professional Race Car Driver
"As an active sailor for years, I'm constantly exposing my eyes to the elements. Before my laser procedure, the salt water, wind and rain made it virtually impossible for me to see with glasses or contacts. Thanks to the doctors and staff at Bochner, it's smooth sailing today." Oskar Johansson, Summer Olympics 2004, Gold Medalist
