As King LASIK's Medical Director, Dr. Joseph W. King is widely known as one of the most experienced board-certified ophthalmologists in the area. He has performed over 60,000 laser eye surgeries during a career spanning more than 15 years and was the first surgeon in the region to utilize leading-edge technologies and techniques for vision correction procedures.

Dr. King has focused his whole career on vision correction surgery.

Dr. King has served as the Medical Director for several renowned vision correction facilities in Washington, California and Canada. He is also one of the founders of Clearly LASIK, which is now King LASIK. Dr. King's experience and surgical skills have resulted in his being asked to serve as a clinical investigator for various clinical research studies in refractive surgery, to train other LASIK surgeons and to present at refractive surgery meetings around the world.

Dr. King and the staff at King LASIK are honored to be chosen to perform vision correction procedures on other eye surgeons as well as physicians, pilots, professional athletes, law enforcement officers, professional photographers and others whose occupations and interests depend on excellent vision. As further testament to Dr. King's experience as a refractive surgeon, the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks have chosen him as their official LASIK surgeon.

Laser Eye Surgery at King LASIK

Dr. King specializes in Blade-Free LASIK.

Dr. King and his dedicated Portland LASIK surgeon team perform iLASIK, a leading-edge procedure chosen by NASA to correct the vision of its astronauts. iLASIK, also known as all-laser LASIK, promotes surgical precision, patient comfort and safety while reducing the risks associated with conventional LASIK's surgical methods. The iLASIK approach incorporates the bladeless IntraLase laser with wavefront-guided measurement techniques and excimer laser technology to produce highly customized vision correction treatments. King LASIK's unsurpassed surgical record and experience has earned the practice a reputation for helping LASIK Portland patients and those throughout the Pacific Northwest gain independence from glasses and contact lenses.

Cataract Surgery at King LASIK

In addition to LASIK vision correction, King LASIK's eye surgeons offer cataract surgery and have helped thousands of Pacific Northwest and Western Canada cataract patients achieve clearer vision. Using the “no-stitch” technique and premium intraocular lens implants (IOLs) such as AcrySof ReSTOR and Crystalens, the surgeons at King LASIK help patients achieve enhanced vision at most distances, often without the need to wear glasses or contacts. IOLs can also be used to correct presbyopia, an age-related condition that affects the focusing power of the eye, thereby inducing farsightedness.

What Do Patients Say About King LASIK?

"I've been wearing glasses and contacts for 15 years. My poor vision was very frustrating and I was tired of relying on contacts and glasses. Dr. King and the staff at King LASIK made me feel relaxed and confident about the LASIK procedure. It was much easier than I expected! The day after, I had clear 20/15 vision and no pain. Recovery is so quick! The only thing I regret...is that I didn't do it SOONER." — Gillian Foote, Radio Personality

"It's amazing how a few minutes completely changed my life! My fear was that my profession in dermatology is very visually oriented and after talking with Dr. King at King LASIK, I was educated about the technology that LASIK was possible for my vision. Clear vision is priceless and that's why I chose Dr. King to perform LASIK for me." — Stephanie Traut, Dermatologist

"Having clear eye sight is amazing to me. I see better now than I did with contacts. I always had dry eyes and was uncomfortable with contacts in and I didn't like the look or feel of glasses. I am excited about how my upcoming season will go with ‘new eyes.' I wish I had done this years ago. My wife had it done a month before and loved it, so when I came in for my free consultation, I was sold." — Dan Dickau, NBA Player

"King LASIK is the place to go for LASIK. King LASIK uses NASA and Naval Aviator approved Blade-FREE Intralase LASIK. What if you move your eye? Well, they offer a tracking system on their lasers that automatically shuts off if your eye is off track. Trust your eyes to King LASIK." — Adam Carolla, Radio and TV Personality
