Most patients experience little or no discomfort after the LASIK procedure. However, everyone's experience is different, and some patients will experience mild to moderate discomfort for a few hours after the procedure.

Some watering of the eyes and a mild burning sensation are common occurrences up to 12 hours after LASIK. You may also experience a mild to moderate foreign body sensation – a gritty feeling or a feeling that something is "in" your eye – for a few hours after surgery.

To decrease the risk of eye discomfort after LASIK, rest your eyes in a darkened room or take a nap soon after the procedure.

Most patients have little or no discomfort the following day.
