Laser Vision Correction at the Aesthetic and Refractive Surgery Medical Center

Dr. Pham is able to decrease his patients' dependence on glasses and contact lenses through laser vision correction. He offers LASIK eye surgery to correct the refractive errors that distort vision. During a LASIK procedure, Dr. Pham uses a small surgical blade or a laser to create a flap in the cornea. He lifts the flap and folds it back from the eye so he has access to the underlying corneal tissue. Dr. Pham uses an excimer laser to carefully ablate small bits of tissue, reshaping the cornea. Once he is finished, he restores the flap to its original position, where it seals itself. A properly shaped cornea is better able to refract light, allowing for clearer and crisper vision.

Cataract Surgery at the Aesthetic and Refractive Surgery Medical Center

In addition to laser vision correction, Dr. Pham offers surgical treatment of cataracts. He is the first and only Silicon Valley cataract surgeon who provides laser refractive cataract surgery at this posting. During this procedure, Dr. Pham uses a laser to make an opening in the natural lens-containing capsule and to break up the eye's cloudy lens inside into tiny pieces, and then uses suction to remove the pieces from the eye. He then places a small intraocular lens to restore clear vision. There are various types of intraocular lenses, each with its own advantages. Laser cataract surgery enables Dr. Pham to place the advanced intraocular lenses (those that allow patients to see distance, intermediate and near objects without glasses) into the natural lens-containing capsules with precision that not even the best surgeon's hand can achieve. This precision is in the order of 30 microns. The accurate placements of these advanced intraocular lenses provide patients with clear vision at all distances.
